Glenlivet Distillery Day Trip

£500

From a fairytale castle in Aberdeenshire to the remote Livet Valley and the heart of Speyside whisky country —

a private day trip for up to 4 people.

The Glenlivet is tucked away in a beautiful part of Speyside near Ballindalloch, on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. Rather than simply making the journey there and back, this private day trip gives you the chance to enjoy some of the scenery and attractions along the route.

And because the timing of your distillery experience is important, we recommend speaking to us before you make your Glenlivet booking. Once we know your preferred date and plans, we can help you work out the best timing for the rest of the day.

A morning in Aberdeenshire

We'll leave Aberdeen and head west through the countryside towards Craigievar Castle.

With its distinctive pink exterior, turrets and towers, Craigievar is one of Scotland's most recognisable historic buildings and one of the country's best-preserved tower houses. The castle was developed into the form we see today in the early 17th century and remained a family home until the 1960s.

We'll allow time to explore the castle and grounds before continuing west towards the mountains and the whisky country beyond.

Please note that castle admission is not included in the price of the day trip. Craigievar operates guided castle tours with limited places, and availability is first-come, first-served, so we'll take the current arrangements into account when planning your day.

Into the Livet Valley

From Craigievar, we'll continue towards The Glenlivet Distillery, travelling deeper into the countryside as we make our way towards the Livet Valley.

This is where the character of the day changes — from the historic castles of Aberdeenshire to the open Highland landscapes and Speyside countryside surrounding The Glenlivet.

For this itinerary, we'd suggest booking your Glenlivet experience for the late morning.

The Glenlivet offers several different visitor experiences, so you choose and book your preferred experience directly with the distillery. Once you have your confirmed booking time, send us the details and we'll build the day's timings around it.

Dufftown and lunch

After your visit, we'll head towards Dufftown, one of the best-known whisky towns in Speyside.

This is your chance to put the whisky aside for a little while, explore the town and enjoy some lunch.

Lunch is not included in the price of the trip and is paid for by you directly.

We'll allow enough time for you to enjoy your meal rather than turning lunch into a rushed stop between two appointments.

Discover the traditional craft of the Cooperage

On the journey back towards Aberdeen, we'll make our way to the Speyside Cooperage.

After spending part of the day discovering whisky at its source, this gives you an opportunity to see another side of the industry — the traditional craftsmanship behind the oak casks in which Scotch whisky is matured.

Your Cooperage experience should be booked and paid for directly by you. We recommend discussing the timing with us before making the reservation so that we can make sure it fits comfortably after your Glenlivet visit and lunch.

A final stop at The Foghouse

There's still one more stop before Aberdeen.

On the way home, we'll call into The Foghouse in Inverurie, giving you somewhere to relax after your day exploring Aberdeenshire and Speyside.

If you fancy a final dram, you can enjoy one before we make the last leg of the journey back to Aberdeen.

Your private Glenlivet day trip

£500 for up to 4 people

This is your private vehicle and driver for the day, allowing you to enjoy the journey without worrying about driving, parking or arranging separate transport between the different stops.

Suggested itinerary

Aberdeen → Craigievar Castle → The Glenlivet Distillery → Dufftown & lunch → Speyside Cooperage → The Foghouse, Inverurie → Aberdeen

The itinerary is a suggestion rather than a fixed timetable. Craigievar's tour availability, your chosen Glenlivet experience and the Cooperage booking all need to work together.

Our advice is to speak to us before booking the attractions. Give us your preferred date and tell us what you'd like to experience, and we'll help you work out a sensible order and timing before you commit to the individual bookings.

Please note: the price of the private day trip does not include admission to Craigievar Castle, The Glenlivet Distillery or the Speyside Cooperage, lunch, food, drinks or any other personal purchases. Attraction and distillery experiences are booked and paid for directly by you.
